Meepo ESCs and Remotes: A Quick Guide

Every electric skateboard has two components that work together - the ESC (electronic speed controller) and the remote. The ESC is a small box inside the skateboard that receives messages from the remote control (that you press) and relays them to the skateboard.
The remote looks a little like a TV remote and is made to fit your hand comfortably as you ride. Meepo uses a couple of different remotes.
Electric skateboard ESCs (inside the board) need to communicate with your remote, so the remote you use depends on the ESC built into your board. Let’s have a look at Meepo electric skateboards, the ESC & remote details, and give you all the information you need to know.
First is our Hobbywing ESC, the standard ESC for City Rider, Mini 2, and Classic 2.
The Hobbywing ESC pairs with the Classic and NR (B) remote. What’s the difference between the Classic and NR (B)? The Classic is in the rounded ergonomic design and has no flashlight, while the NR (B) comes with a flashlight standard and is more squarish. The NR (B) remote comes standard with electric skateboards equipped with the Hobbywing ESC.
Our next model is the LingYi ESC, also known as V3 ESC, the standard ESC on Meepo V3 Standard, V3 ER, Mini 2 ER, and NLS Pro.
While these models come with the MR remote standard in the box, they will also work with the V2, and NR (A) remotes. The MR remote comes with a convenient digital interface and is the standard remote for our most popular electric skateboard model, the formidable V3. The digital features make this electric skateboard remote a popular choice, even though it does not have a flashlight built-in like the NR remotes.
Meepo Campus has its own ESC called Meepo Campus ESC and it can pair with the MR, V2 and NR (A) remote. The remote you will receive on purchase is the NR (A) remote. This is a popular design featuring a built-in flashlight.
Meepo’s R & D team has built a robust ESC for Meepo’s proprietary all-wheel-drive electric skateboard - Meepo AWD ESC. This uniquely designed ESC has been customized for Meepo’s all-wheel-drive skateboard and pairs only with the NR (AWD) remote.
Whether you’re buying an electric skateboard for the first time or buying spare parts for your 10th board making sure that you have the proper ESC and remote pairing is always something to make sure to get right. If you end up with the wrong remote, it just won’t work. Happy skating!
